A fire that broke out on Castle Street in Cardigan is being treated as a possible arson.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for Cardigan are appealing for witnesses following the fire that started in the early hours of this morning (16 June).
They say that they would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time.
Police were called at around 3.45am this morning – by then, the fire service were already on the scene.
Several properties were evacuated as a precaution. Luckily, no-one was injured.
The area remains cordoned off as forensic examinations are carried out, and officers would like to speak to anyone who was in the area in the early hours, or who has information which could help the investigation.
Detective Inspector Richard Yelland said: “We know that there are a number of people in the area at the time the fire started and I would appeal to them to get in touch.”
He added: “I am also very grateful for the patience of the local community while Castle Street is closed.”
