The restaurants may be shut across Ceredigion, but the takeaways and shops are still in business.

And with many of us relying ever so more on these establishments, it’s good to know what exactly goes on behind closed doors.

Fortunately, the Food Standards Agency does just that – they make sure that the places we love to shop at and order from are keeping up the high levels of cleanliness and food safety management that is needed.

The government body rates all places that are involved in the production or selling of any foodstuff on a scale of zero to five.

And these ratings legally have to be displayed by the shops, bars, and restaurants in Wales – which, surprisingly, is not the case in England.

Most restaurants in Aberystwyth score well on the rating – but others do not.

Here are the food-serving establishments in Aberystwyth that have been rated as “major improvement necessary” by the Food Standards Agency.
