Aberystwyth Town FC and Penrhyncoch FC have both announced new managers yesterday (16 June).

Gavin Allen, who used to be the assistant manager at Aberystwyth Town FC, moved up to the head-gaffer job for the first team having been accepted onto the FAW Pro License Course.

Mathew Bishop, who used to manage the first team, will stay on as the club’s football consultant.

In an online statement the club thanked Mr Bishop for staying on at the club.

“Aberystwyth Town expresses its gratitude to Mathew for accepting the offer to remain with the Club in his new capacity,” the statement read. “Everyone at the Club wishes the all local Management Team all the best for the forthcoming 2020/21 season.”

“Absolutely delighted”

Gavin Allen told Aberystwyth Town Football Club: “In the past two years of being involved with Aberystwyth Town FC, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some highly experienced individuals.

“This time has been invaluable to my development in football management, and I have learnt a lot from it.

“I am absolutely delighted to be named Manager for the coming season, and I am especially grateful to my new management team who I know are as passionate as myself when it comes to achieving success for this club.

“We’re already in talks with some really exciting players to welcome into our football family for next season; all of whom our fans should recognise and be wholeheartedly proud to support.”
